Network History
In 1993, several organizations providing Adult Day Services in Alameda County came together in an all-volunteer effort to work collectively on issues of common concern: consumer awareness and access to services; common data and the measurement of outcomes; quality and staff training, transportation; and advocacy.
In 1997, the group received grant funds from The San Francisco Foundation, Evelyn & Walter Haas, Jr. Fund and The United Way of the Bay Area, enabling it to hire a Director, launch a number of core programs, and re-grant funds to member agencies for participant scholarships. With the development of additional programs and the contributions of a broadening base of supporters, in 2000, we added a second staff person and independent contractors to help implement programs.
Over the past 10 years, the Adult Day Services Network of Alameda County (ADSNAC) has become recognized as a county and state-wide leader for Adult Day Services. Guided by a member-driven strategic plan, ADSNAC provides leadership and implements initiatives that complement and extend the work of the Alameda County Adult Day provider agencies that make up its core membership. Today, ADSNAC and its member agencies reach over 5,000 older and disabled adults each year.
