Network Core Programs
The Network's core programs complement and extend the work of its member adult day services providers:
  Quality of Care Initiative
  Marketing, Education, and Caregiver Support
  Subsidies for Adult Day Services
  Client Management System
  Caregiver Counseling and Support Groups
Integration of Adults with Developmental Disabilities
  Advocacy and Planning
  Senior Managers Committee
  Center Directors Committee
Quality of Care Initiative
The Network's focus on quality of care reflects and supports providers' commitment to providing quality services for participants and caregivers. The current three-year Initiative has provided confidential assessments of member agency programs by experienced professionals, training opportunities, and mini-grants to centers for targeted quality improvement interventions. The development of quality self-assessment tools for use by providers both locally and nationwide will provide practical tools with which to assess their programs and improve care over time.
Marketing, Education, and Caregiver Support
With a goal of increasing awareness of the availability and value of adult day services and helping link caregivers to adult day and other valuable community services, the Network engages in a broad range of marketing and outreach efforts, including:
Informational sessions for caregivers and professionals
    Telephone based information and assistance
    A comprehensive website: www.adult-day-services.org
High quality caregiver information and support products
Mass Mailings and a Media Campaign
Subsidies for Adult Day Services
With a goal of reducing financial barriers to participation, the Network raises funds to subsidize the cost of services for individuals with low to moderate incomes who would otherwise not be able to participate. Currently the Network re-grants funds obtained from the Alameda County Area Agency on Aging - National Family Caregiver Support Program and the City of Oakland to member agencies to provide subsidies.
Client Management System
The Network assists member programs in building an information technology structure to support efficient and quality operations. The Network selected, customized, and has installed client management software for eight member centers to meet operational needs and reporting requirements, produce a health and demographic profile of their client population, and demonstrate the outcomes of services. Staff training in the use of the software, plus telephone, remote and on-site technical assistance helps to ensure full use of the database.
Caregiver Counseling and Support Groups
One-on-one counseling and support groups for mono-lingual Chinese, Vietnamese and Korean speaking caregivers -- plus written information in three languages - is provided by Hong Fook Adult Day Health Care through the Network's grant with Alameda County Area Agency on Agency - National Family Caregiver Support Program.
Integration of Adults with Developmental Disabilities
In collaboration with Regional Center of the East Bay, the Network is working to promote and increase participation of adults with developmental disabilities in Adult Day programs in the East Bay. Protocols and training modules for Regional Center and Adult Day staff promote appropriate referrals and quality care.
Advocacy and Planning
The Network participates in several county-wide planning efforts, and with the California Association for Adult Day Services to address state-wide trends and fiscal and regulatory issues that affect the industry.
Senior Managers Committee
The Senior Managers Committee is comprised of the Executive Directors or Senior Managers of the agencies providing adult day services programs in Alameda County. The committee addresses issues affecting the adult day services industry, as well as county and statewide policy and fiscal developments; it also provides valuable direction to the Network's core programs.
Center Directors Committee
This committee includes the primary managers of the County's adult day services programs. Center Directors meet every other month to share information and best practices about daily operations and management challenges. This spirit of mutual cooperation enhances the quality of care and operations throughout the County.
