Hallmarks of Quality

As unique as each program may be, all high quality programs have the following things in common:

  • Conduct assessments of individuals before admission to determine their range of abilities and needs.

  • Provide an active day program that meets the social, recreational, and rehabilitation needs of the adult.

  • Develop an individualized treatment plan for participants and regularly monitor their progress.

  • Provide referrals to other needed services in the community.

  • Have clear guidelines for determining which kind of service is provided and when a service should be terminated based on the needs of the client.

  • Provide a full range of in-house services, which may include personal care, transportation, meals, health screening and monitoring, educational programs, counseling, and rehabilitation services.

  • Provide a safe and secure environment.

  • Use qualified and well-trained staff and volunteers.

  • Adhere to or exceed existing state and national standards and guidelines. Click here for information about regulatory definitions of adult day services and their associated licenses.
