The Friendship Center
Serving the Tri-Valley area since 1992, the LARPD ( Livermore Area Recreation & Park District) Friendship Center offers social opportunities for elders and frail adults. Those who attend face a variety of challenges to their independence and sense of self-identity. Some are isolated and lonely, and most have health concerns such as depression, memory loss, Alzheimer's Disease, diabetes, heart disease, dementia, stroke, arthritis, high blood pressure or Parkinson's Disease. The program not only offers seniors who are facing challenges an opportunity to remain part of the community, it also reduces the stress level of their caregivers by providing them with respite from their caregiving duties.

Decorated in a warm and homelike manner, the Friendship Center offers a safe and comfortable environment where participants engage in fun and stimulating activities. Here program activities exist not to kill time, but to make it live; not to keep participants occupied, but to refresh them; not to escape from life, but to engage in it.

Scholarships are available, and are supported by the fundraising efforts of the Tri-Valley Adult Day Care Program (TVADCP).
