Alzheimer's Services of the East Bay - Berkeley

Alzheimer's Services of the East Bay (ASEB) seeks to support individuals and families living with Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia throughout the course of the illness. Our goal is to make the most of each moment for the person with dementia while making sure their health, cognitive and emotional needs are addressed by competent, professional and caring staff. Staff are also available as a resource and support system to family caregivers as they go through the caregiving journey.

In addition to having three licensed Adult Day Health Care centers equipped with registered nurses, social workers and full health care teams, our sites are certified as Alzheimer's Day Care Resource Centers by the California Department of Aging. What does this certification mean to those using our services? It means an exceptionally high participant-to-staff ratio (5:1), staff specially trained to understand dementia, and a mission to provide high quality dementia programming.

"Your staff are wonderful, dedicated, heartfelt workers, and enjoyable to be around."

Our program seeks to meet the needs of individuals in varying stages of dementia. We offer at least two activities concurrently throughout the majority of the day, providing choice and serving people with different levels of ability. Activities offered at ASEB include sewing, cooking, painting, gardening, reminiscence groups, discussion groups, knitting, art appreciation, woodworking, music appreciation, exercise groups, stretch groups and chair dancing. Because of our staffing ratio, we are able to offer personalized attention to individuals when needed.

ASEB has been providing specialized dementia care in Alameda County since 1989. Please call us to find out how we can best serve you and to arrange a visit.
