ELDERS & THEIR FAMILIES
Caregiving is an enormous amount of work! Even under the best of circumstances, it may be one of the biggest challenges of your life. At the same time, attending to the physical, mental and emotional needs of a friend or family member may be among the most rewarding things you will ever do.
Being involved in providing support and assistance can provoke a confusing array of emotions, including the feeling of being overwhelmed. Knowing and understanding the needs of the person for whom you're caring, recognizing your own needs, and learning to utilize resources in the community will help you face the future, whatever it may bring.
To assist elders and their families, we help people find the adult day programs that will work for them through our free information and referral service. We provide community education sessions, and make a variety of materials available free of charge. We administer a subsidy program that makes funds available to families who could not otherwise afford adult day programs. We help fund counseling and support groups for non-English speakers. Finally, we act as a support and catalyst for the development of new and improved services.
